domingo rogers: Capturing Life in the Fullest

“Stand Up”…and “Never Surrender”

This morning I listened to two songs consecutively on Pandora that I had to share.

Stand Up  – by Fireflight

Look at all the lonely hearts
Shivering out in the dark
Hiding from the truth
Cover up the proof
Demons that I’ve tried to hide
Imprison me in my own lies
And all that I can do is cover up the proof
Don’t be afraid to…

Stand up!
Stand up if you’re broken
Stand up!
Stand up if you feel ashamed
You are not alone when you hurt this way
Stand up!
Stand up if you need love
Stand up!
This is not judgment day
You don’t have to hide
There’s no need to run
Everything will be okay

Secrets got me torn apart
Trying to destroy my heart
But I can see the light
It’s cutting through the night
Don’t run away
(Don’t run away)
Don’t be afraid to…

You say You love me
That’s all I’ll ever need
If You say I’m good enough
That’s good enough for me

Never Surrender – by Skillet

Do you know what it’s like when
You’re scared to see yourself?
Do you know what it’s like when
You wish you were someone else
Who didn’t need your help to get by?

Do you know what it’s like
To wanna surrender?

I don’t wanna feel like this tomorrow
I don’t wanna live like this today
Make me feel better, I wanna feel better
Stay with me here now and never surrender
Never surrender

Do you know what it’s like when
You’re not who you wanna be?
Do you know what it’s like to
Be your own worst enemy
Who sees the things in me I can’t hide?

Do you know what it’s like
To wanna surrender?

I don’t wanna feel like this tomorrow
I don’t wanna live like this today
Make me feel better, I wanna feel better
Stay with me here now and never surrender

Make me feel better, you make me feel better
You make me feel better, put me back together

I don’t wanna feel like this tomorrow
I don’t wanna live like this today
Make me feel better, I need to feel better
Stay with me here now and never surrender

Put me back together
Never surrender, make me feel better
You make me feel better
Stay with me here now and never surrender

The 4-Hour Workweek – Beginning the Journey

One of my gifts this Christmas was the book, The 4-Hour Workweek, which my Na-Na gave to me.  I began reading the book the next day and am on Chapter 9 currently.  I realized while we were on our “vacation” (I’ll explain my sarcasm in a moment) up in Michigan, that I needed to start doing the work that is outlined by the author Tim Ferriss.  I realized that I need  to ask myself the hard questions, be brutally honest with my answers and make changes to achieve the life that I want and that I want to provide my family.   So begins my introspective and journey.

100DTD Challenge (Physical Day 4)

Tang Soo Do

Regular width Push-ups: 3 Sets of push-ups (8, 7, 6)

In tonight’s two, 1 hour classes, we concentrated on stances, blocks, and perfecting the power of our kicks.  We also worked on forms and Master Marsh really stressed how important the basics are.  It really hit home how simply the practice of many of the  fundamentals of Tang Soo Do can be practiced in small ways at the office, home,  and school for myself and for the boys.

I’m really looking forward to improving in Tang Soo Do and other sports as I get ripped and build muscle and developing explosive power!

Day 2 and 3 – 100DTD Challenge (Physical)

Day 2  Walked/Ran with Kelly.  She improved her time by 1 second.  I did 6 sets of push-ups (20,12,7) in regular and wide positions.  Also did 100 crunches.

Day 3

  • Leg raises 6 inches off the floor (3 sets – one minute each)
  • 5 sets of frog stand for 30 or more seconds
  • Standing Dumb-bell curls: 3 sets of 15 @20lbs
  • Pull-ups:  3 sets of 5 (parallel, wide, close)

100DTD Challenge (Physical) – Hitting the reset button

“Our goals can only be reached through a vehicle of a plan, in which we must fervently believe, and upon which we must vigorously act. There is no other route to success.”  Stephen A. Brennan

Ok, it’s the evening of September 13th and I looking at the clock as I type this.  There are 15 minutes left in this day before we roll into September 14th.  The kids are back in school, we are in our “routine” of getting them up and out the door, and I haven’t been “vigorously” acting on my plan to gain muscle mass and improving my over-all health. Fringe & Other Fall TV Shows

Well for me, this next week marks the start of the kick-off to the fall tv shows.  Yes, I know that many shows have already started but my anticipation for one particular show’s return, that started last fall, is very high.  I am counting down the days until Fringe returns!

show_fringe_s2 Now if you have been living under a rock and haven’t watched Fringe, you don’t know what you are missing!  Go program it into your dvr now.  And then come back and read why you just did that.  What are you doing…go program it, NOW! More »

Great I Have a Blog – Now What?

Shortly after investing in the tools of ProfitLance (a blogging and marketing toolbox I have found extremely helpful) and while I was in the midst of building my blog I quickly learned that traffic is king.  Now mind you, this wasn’t anything different from what John Chow, Michael Dunlop, Darren Rowse, Yaro Starak, Perry Belcher, and David Risley were saying but when you are starting out getting traffic is difficult.  This is especially true if you are doingwriters-block what everyone else is doing and are telling you to do!  So I set out to find a way to get traffic that followed many of the principles that the experts were talking about but in a proven and unique way. Cool Music Videos & Just Cool Videos

Some of you all may know already about the loss of a little life in our extended family.  In this trying time I wanted to start this post of Cool Videos with some inspiring music, music that has lifted my spirits and the spirits of many others.  Also, my wife, was given the link to a video that I feel should be seen by every adult that owns a cell phone with text capabilities, has a teen that owns such a cell or knows of someone who does.

This first video, performed by Chris Tomlin, needs no less of an introduction suffice to say this is his version of Amazing Grace (My Chains Are Gone).  Enjoy
