domingo rogers: Capturing Life in the Fullest

Movie Review(s): 127 Hours (2010) & Unstoppable (2010)

This week I sat down and watched two movies that are very different from one another. 127 Hours, in my book, takes the Slurpee by far (Takes the cake just doesn’t seem to fit. Now that I think about it, I might be on to something. Maybe instead of a five star system I’ll go to a five Slurpee system…What do you think?)! Anyway, going into watching this movie I knew that the character, Aron Ralston, gets stuck underneath a bolder. However, the lead up to that event actually made me anxious while watching and I think that added to the dynamic of this movie. I think that the producers did an excellent job in taking the viewer through the care free life that Aaron was leading and into harsh reality that met him in the Utah desert!

Summery: Watch this movie and be prepared to ask yourself whether you could do the same while facing similar situations and if you would last 127 hours….

While watching Unstoppable, I was really disappointed. As I mention in my video review, between the two lead actors in this flick, Denzel Washington is able to build a dimension into his character that Chris Pine fails to deliver on. The memories of my childhood and the trips with my Pap-Pap to see the rail cars was the highlight of the movie for me. Overall this movie made me wanting more in plot, character development and more creativity in the way the movie was physically shot!

Summery: Save your money or your free movie credit for a different movie! This movie can only be a must see if you have to watch every movie that has train theme, in that case…you’re just a little odd….

Rating for 127 Hours: 5 out of 5 stars (Slurpees)

Rating for Unstoppable: 2.5 out of 5 stars (Slurpees)
